In an age where face-to-face communication is becoming a smaller part of many people’s daily lives, one music festival is campaigning to reverse the trend.
The Shibuya Ongakusai is an annual event that turns the streets of Shibuya into one giant concert venue to send the message that those “three little words” — hello, thanks, sorry — are all you need to get started.
On November 12 – 13, a variety of dancers, singers and other performers will be setting up in front of 109, along Dogenzaka and Bunkamura Dori, and at C.C. Lemon Hall.

Visitors to Shibuya on Sunday morning were mostly wrapped up for the winter cold. But there were three exceptions.
Wearing little more than sexy bikinis, three young women carried placards with horrific images of animal cruelty. This was the latest publicity stunt by non-profit organization the Animal Rights Center Japan.

The ARCJ has previously organized marches by hundreds of locals through Tokyo’s fashionable districts of Harajuku, Omotesando and Shibuya — though usually in warmer months.

Arima Onsen (Hot Springs) is right on the back side of Rokko Mountain where I live. I often visit there with my family and when ever someone comes for a visit, we are certain to take them to Arima at least once! Arima Onsen is one of the oldest hot springs in Japan and often appears in written histories about Japan. The many natural minerals and ingredients found in the waters there are rare worldwide and are really wonderful for ones body. From the many temples and shrines to the beautiful, narrow, old town streets, the entire area is really a wonderful place to walk around and visit. For more information on Arima Hot Springs, please contact Arima Hot Springs Tourist Information Center at 81-78-904-0708 ●Nathan S. My interest in Japan started with Origami when I was 5 years old and after coming here in High School, I just could not stop coming back. I have enjoyed traveling all over Japan and studying many of the traditional arts such as Kimono, Tea Ceremony, Kendo and Kyudo. The more I see and learn the more I come to understand how much more there is to find out about. Japan …

On Sunday morning, La Fabrique closed its doors for the last
time.
The iconic French club is the latest in a string of closures in Shibuya, with the majority replaced by enormous discount shopping stores.
The final party at LA Fabrique, Solid, had been held in the club for the last eight
years. It had helped bring the sound of Chicago house to Tokyo, and its
reputation had spread overseas as one of the best parties of its kind in the
world.
The party has now ended, and one more element that made Shibuya a
place with a one-of-a-kind culture has gone.

Is Shibuya Tokyo’s own ‘Jersey Shore?’

Anyone with a pulse on pop culture has heard of the “Jersey Shore” gang — those brash, over-tanned and humorously styled Italian-American
20-somethings made stars on MTV’s reality show of the same name.
In Japan it is in broadcast as “Macaroni Rascals: The Jersey Shore Life.” But we don’t need Jersey’s introduction to crass culture because Tokyo has long had its own cesspool of bad taste, and it’s called Shibuya.
The J-Shore amateurs have nothing on these “gyaru” girls and “gyaru-o” boys.
